Aina Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Thank you for using Aina. This Privacy Policy explains what information Aina collects, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
If you create an account or sign in, we may collect:
- Email address
- Display name or username
- Authentication provider information, such as Apple, Google, or email/password sign-in
- Basic profile settings you choose to save
You may be able to use Aina without creating an account. If you continue without an account, your local app data remains on your device unless you later choose to sign in or enable syncing features.
Mood and Reflection Data
Aina may collect information you enter or create in the app, including:
- Mood check-ins
- Reflection text
- Mirror cards
- Pattern history
- Selected songs, artists, and music-related preferences
- App settings and onboarding responses
We use this information to provide Aina's personalized reflection, music, card, and pattern features.
HealthKit Data
Aina may request access to Apple HealthKit data that you choose to authorize, such as sleep, steps, or other wellness signals.
HealthKit access is optional. Aina uses HealthKit data only to provide personalized reflections and pattern insights. Aina does not sell HealthKit data, does not use HealthKit data for advertising, and does not share HealthKit data with third parties for marketing.
To write a reflection that matches how your day actually felt, Aina sends a short daily wellness summary to our AI provider (OpenAI). Where you have authorised the matching data, that summary can include your hours slept, step count, active calories, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability and mindful minutes for that day. It is sent only to generate your reflection, is not used to train AI models, and is not sold. Aina does not send your HealthKit history, and no other HealthKit data types are transmitted. If you would prefer these measurements never to be sent, leave HealthKit disconnected or revoke access — Aina still works and simply writes your reflection without them.
You can manage or revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in the Apple Health app or iOS Settings.
Screen Time, Family Controls, and Device Activity Data
Aina may request access to Screen Time, Family Controls, or Device Activity information that you choose to authorize through iOS.
Screen Time access is optional. Aina reads your aggregate total daily phone time and Screen Time category totals, such as Social or Entertainment, as reflective context. It does not read, display, store, or transmit individual app names, per-app usage, or app tokens. Aina keeps your daily totals on your device for up to 14 days so it can show today against your own recent average. Your total phone time for the day, how it compares with that average, and your top Screen Time category totals are included in the daily wellness summary sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to help write your reflection. Individual app names, per-app usage and app tokens are never sent. Aina does not sell Screen Time or Device Activity data, does not use it for advertising, does not use it to track you across apps or websites, and does not use it to train AI models.
You can revoke Screen Time, Family Controls, or Device Activity permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Music Data and Apple Music Links
Aina may use Apple, iTunes, or Apple Music-related APIs to find song names, artists, cover artwork, preview metadata, and listening links.
This information is used to create your daily music reflection and connect you to the selected song. Aina does not upload, download, stream, or share music files.
Usage and Diagnostics Data
We may collect limited usage and diagnostics data, such as app interactions, feature usage, crash information, performance data, and general session activity.
We use this information to improve Aina's reliability, security, user experience, and product features.
Waitlist and Website Data
If you submit your email through an Aina website waitlist form, we may collect your email address for waitlist, launch, or product update purposes.
The Aina website may use services such as Firebase App Check or reCAPTCHA to help prevent abuse and protect forms from automated spam. These services may process technical information according to their own privacy policies.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide mood tracking, reflections, mirror cards, and pattern insights
- Personalize your Aina experience
- Generate daily song reflections
- Save your account, profile, and optional synced history
- Improve app performance and reliability
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
- Provide customer support
- Process account-related or purchase-related requests, where applicable
We do not use HealthKit data, Screen Time data, or mood reflection data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
3. AI and Reflection Generation
Aina uses OpenAI API services to help generate reflections, mirror cards, summaries, and related insights.
When AI features are used, Aina sends only what's needed to generate your reflection: your mood-log text, mood context, selected preferences, and — if you have connected them — the daily wellness summary described in the HealthKit and Screen Time sections above: your sleep, movement, recovery and mindfulness measurements for that day, plus your total phone time, how it compares with your recent average, and your top Screen Time category totals.
Aina does not send individual app names, per-app usage or app tokens to OpenAI or any AI service, and does not send your HealthKit or Screen Time history. The information sent is used only to generate your reflection — it is not used to train AI models, for advertising, or sold.
AI-generated reflections are for personal reflection only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, therapy, or treatment.
4. Sharing Mirror Cards
Aina lets you create shareable mirror cards. A card may include the selected song, artist, cover artwork, and Aina's reflection text.
Sharing is controlled by you. Aina does not automatically post your cards publicly. You should review a card before sharing it, especially if it includes personal reflection text.
Aina does not include raw HealthKit data or raw Screen Time data on share cards unless you choose to add or share that information yourself.
5. Friends and Lifeline
Friends is optional and stays off until you add someone. People can find each other only by typing an exact username — Aina never reads, uploads or matches your contacts, and there is no directory to browse.
When you add a friend, they can see the state label your day landed on, the song Aina chose, and your username and display name. They cannot see your mood-log text, the reflection Aina wrote, your emotions, your Health data or your Screen Time data. Only today’s state is shared, not a history.
Lifeline is a separate opt-in. If you turn it on and mark specific friends as trusted, those friends may receive one short message saying you have had a heavy few days, at most once per day. That message contains only your name and the time it was sent — never your entries, your songs, your state, or the reason it was triggered. Trusted friends are told they are on your lifeline, and you can turn Lifeline off or remove anyone from it at any time.
Aina is not a crisis or emergency service and must not be relied on as one. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services.
You can block or report any person from their card in the Friends tab. Blocking is immediate, removes them from your lifeline and stops all signals in both directions. We review reports and may suspend accounts that abuse the feature.
6. Third-Party Services
Aina may use third-party services to operate the app, including:
- OpenAI API services for AI-generated reflections
- Firebase or similar cloud infrastructure for authentication, storage, security, analytics, or app reliability
- Apple HealthKit, Screen Time, Family Controls, and Device Activity frameworks
- Apple, iTunes, or Apple Music-related APIs for song metadata and listening links
- Apple App Store services for purchases, subscriptions, or refunds, if applicable
These services process information only as needed to provide, secure, or improve Aina.
7. Data Storage and Security
Some information is stored locally on your device. If you create an account or enable syncing features, some information may also be stored securely using backend or cloud infrastructure.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Purchases and Refunds
If Aina offers paid subscriptions or in-app purchases, purchases are processed through Apple's App Store or another applicable platform.
We may receive limited purchase or subscription status information needed to provide paid features, verify access, support refunds, or comply with platform requirements.
9. Your Choices and Controls
You may:
- Use Aina without creating an account, where supported
- Revoke HealthKit permissions in the Apple Health app or iOS Settings
- Revoke Screen Time, Family Controls, or Device Activity permissions in iOS Settings
- Delete local app data by deleting the app from your device
- Request deletion of your account or personal data

10. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep information only for as long as needed to provide Aina, operate our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.
If you request deletion of your account or personal data, we will delete or anonymize information associated with your account unless we are required to keep certain information for legal, security, or platform-compliance reasons.
Some information stored only on your device can be deleted by removing the app or clearing app data.
11. Children
Aina is not intended to provide medical, therapeutic, or diagnostic services to children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, they may contact us at aina.applicationkz@gmail.com to request deletion.
12. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such processing.
